Digital Art
Once upon a time I took a class in photography on Udemy and really enjoyed that. Photos need to be edited but photoshop was far too expensive and I'm not a big fan of subscribtion models. I tried GIMP but couldn't get the hang of it, then Canva, which I'm still using, and eventually found Affinity Photo. I fell in love! A few more Udemy classes and a sale on the Affinity homepage later, I owned the entire Affinity suite.
I've been experimenting ever since. Layering pictures over each other or my paintings (as you can see in the header and the thumbnail) are some of my favourite ways to create a new image. I've also dabbled in pixel art and drew the picture below as part of a class.
This is a recurring passion which I fully intend to use for book covers, mugs, logos, websites and any other future projects.
I practiced:
- layout and composition
- making digital "thank you" notes
- thinking outside the box (I made the bubble brushes on the right by photographing unwashed tea cups)
- following my instincts
- allowing myself to make stuff that isn't "perfect"
I learned:
- Affinity designer, photo and publisher
- practice makes better
- logo design
- branding
- colour theory
- typography and that fonts are awesome!
- how to use layering effects, blend pictures together, crop, make my own brushes... and sooo much more
